Sunrise, Halloween morning, October 31, 2016 in Port Washington, WI, more specifically, Veterans Memorial Park. I call this image, “In the Beginning” for several reasons. Sunrise marks the beginning of a new day. But this particular location also boasts a outlet of some type of water pipe which dispatches rain water into the lake. I’m not really sure about the details but it makes a great location to make images of Lake Michigan, the Port Washington lighthouse. Images Available
The 2016 June full moon, also knows as the Strawberry Moon occurred on June 20th which was also the summer solstice, the longest day of the year. Moon rise was 8:37pm with sunset occurring right about the same time, at 8:36pm I choose to photograph the moonrise from the familiar surroundings of the Port Washington Marina. Based upon the relative location of the moonrise and it’s proximity to the iconic art deco lighthouse, I knew I could get both…
Pirate Fest returned to Port Washington after a several year absence. Held June 3-5, 2016 the event featured pirate reenactments, knife and axe throwing, musket shooting, and of course, food and drink. For the kids, there was a bouncy house. Vendors lined several sections of the marina with a wide selection of eclectic goodies to browse and buy. The picturesque Port Washington Marina provided the perfect backdrop for the festival. For those wanting to get off land, the tall…

Each are about 60 miles away, Milwaukee to the south, Green Bay to the north. Being a city on the Lake Michigan shoreline, of course the harbor area is a main attraction. The Harbor Centre Marina is regarded by boaters as one of the finest full service marinas on the western shores…
Winter Beach in Port Washington Wisconsin by James Meyer Photography It finally warmed up, in a manner of speaking, to a delightful 20 degrees. After many days of temperatures in the single digits and wind chills well below zero, 20 degrees with no wind felt almost balmy, almost. What do you do in warm weather? That’s right, head to the beach. This morning at South Beach in Port Washington, Wisconsin, the lake was absolutely still. Spooky still. No waves,…
“On the Edge” North Beach, Port Washington, WI., January 15, 2016 I call this shoot “On the Edge” as I was literally on the edge of Lake Michigan for all these shots. At one point when some higher waves reached up and grabbed me. On the Edge also refers the natural elements of these images. The sea and land meet. Temperatures rise and dive, dancing above and below the freezing mark. Shop Prints
